DVC External Engagement, Enterprise Division

The Enterprise Division, led by the Executive Director (Enterprise), is responsible for leading UQ’s business development activities with UQ’s potential partnerships. In particular, the division leads and oversees the implementation of the University’s strategy to develop specific partnerships with universities, government, research and industry bodies, both in Australia and around the world. Stewardship of the University’s stakeholders is a key enabler for the University’s future success, and this area will be pivotal in ensuring that early stage partnerships are developed to a level of maturity and quality required to then be handed over to other parts of the University for continuity and implementation. The division will work very closely with the Research Portfolio to ensure partnerships are nurtured and expectations managed. This office will also be responsible for developing and delivering an Entrepreneurship and Innovation Strategy for the University, consistent with the UQ Student Strategy. Identifying work integrated learning projects, internships and other possible student engagement opportunities will also be an important part of this office.

The Enterprise Division (which incorporates Global Engagement and Entrepreneurship & Innovation) is part of the External Engagement portfolio, comprised of the UQ Art Museum, UQ Press, Indigenous Engagement, Future Students, Marketing & Communications and Advancement. The organisational units of the International Portfolio have recently been integrated into the External Engagement portfolio. International Student Recruitment, Marketing and Admissions, the Institute of Continuing & TESOL Education now reside within the Future Students unit while Global Engagement sits within the Enterprise area.

The role

The Senior Manager, Entrepreneurship & Innovation (E&I) is responsible for the stewardship of UQ’s entrepreneurship and innovation activities, both within the University as well as across other education bodies, government and industry. This role will work closely with the Research Portfolio, in particular the Director, Research Partnerships, to identify linkages between UQ’s E&I activities with those taking place across the sector. It will also work closely with the Community Director – UQ Idea Hub, iLab Director and the portfolio of the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic as it will be integral in developing and delivering an Entrepreneurship and Innovation Strategy for the University, consistent with the UQ Student Strategy.

The person

Applicants should possess postgraduate qualifications in a relevant area and/or extensive relevant industry experience and educational training. You should also have demonstrable experience in developing and operationalising Entrepreneurship & Innovation strategies, and to create change and impact through these strategies. Skills and experience developing enterprise and innovation programs, with an ability to navigate the state and national entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystems will also be highly regarded.

This role is a full-time position; however flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment at HEW Level 9 for up to three years. The remuneration package will be in the range $108, 810 - $115,144 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $127,308 - $134,718 p.a.).
