Applications are invited for a Research Associate position in the Bristol Interaction Group at the University of Bristol. The post-holder will be highly motivated and talented researcher with extensive experimental expertise in materials engineering and mechanical characterisation. The goal of this project will be to create a combined ultrasonic-3D printing technique as a platform technology to be used to develop inexpensive, high-resolution plastics-based electronic components, as well as the fabrication of scaffolds for tissue engineering and other biodesign applications.

The postholder will develop an ultrasound-guided 3D printer to improve current limitations of print resolution. Applicants should hold a PhD in Engineering, with a focus on mechanics of soft materials and experience with material design and characterisation for tissue engineering applications. The post holder will have an excellent track record, and must have extensive experience working in an interdisciplinary, collaborative, environment. Within this broad objective there will be plenty of freedom and flexibility in shaping the research project. The ultimate key requirement is to demonstrate academic excellence through high-quality peer-reviewed papers and strong interaction with the peer-community.

This post is being offered on a full time, fixed term contract for up to one year.

It is expected that interviews will be held shortly after the closing date.
