Research Assistant - Innovation and Impact

Job Details

Are you an early career researcher looking to make a difference in industry? Do you have a background in management, strategy, innovation and/or engineering? Do you want to further your career in one of the UK’s leading research-intensive Universities?

We are looking for a Research Assistant to join project SPRING, an exciting multi-disciplinary project with the primary aim to enhance the uptake of new and novel systems and technologies for improving resource and energy efficiency in the EU process industries. This EU funded project will create guidance for decision-makers in industries such as cement, ceramics, chemicals, engineering, minerals and ores, non-ferrous metals, steel and water.

You will carry out industrially focused research as part of this project, working closely with Dr Richard Hodgett and Professor Alan Pearman, as well as interacting with the other members of the project consortium based across five different European countries. You will also be part of the Centre for Decision Research, a large internationally recognised research group interested in human decision-making. You will gather knowledge from past sustainable engineering projects, the active partners within the consortium and from the broader academic literature to propose methods of best practice. You will also develop a framework/methodology for impact assessment.

You will have a first degree, masters or doctoral degree in business, engineering or another closely related discipline, along with experience of conducting research, reviewing past knowledge, contributing to journal articles and some knowledge of manufacturing. You will also have good communication, time management, planning and systems thinking skills.

Interviews will take place on 5 September 2017.
