Research Associate - Adoption and Foster Care Studies

The Hadley Centre for Adoption and Foster Care Studies at the School for Policy Studies is seeking a part-time (40% time/0.4 FTE) Research Associate to contribute to two innovative and existing studies.

The first study is an evaluation of interventions designed to reduce child to parent violence in adoptive families. Interventions are being delivered by a voluntary adoption agency PAC-UK. The post holder will be required to undertake a preliminary analysis of standardised measures comparing baseline with follow up and possibly undertake some phone interviews with adoptive parents.

The second study aims to extend our current online survey of looked after children’s subjective well-being to include care leavers. The post holder will be involved in survey design for care leavers and piloting.

You should have sufficient knowledge of the care system; proficiency in the use of SPSS including analysis of standardized measures, multi variate analysis, categorical data analysis; the ability to conduct telephone interviews; and well developed analytical skills. It is essential for you to have a good honours degree (or equivalent) and a relevant postgraduate research degree or equivalent professional qualification/experience or be working towards one.
