Research Associate in Sports Nutrition

Job Details

Job Purpose

A Research Associate is sought to undertake human volunteer research examining novel ways to enhance ingested carbohydrate availability during and after endurance exercise. The project will utilise 13C-labelled carbohydrate ingestion in combination with breath, blood, urine and skeletal muscle sampling to evaluate fuel metabolism in response to exogenous carbohydrate provision during or after exercise. The technical approach will be similar to that used in previous publications in the area (e.g., PMID: 15741841 and PMID: 18799989).

As such, we are looking for an individual with a genuine interest in exercise metabolism and nutrition, experience in running human exercise studies and a motivation to further develop their technical and analytical expertise. The research is externally funded and the appointed researcher will join the group of Dr Gareth Wallis in the School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences and also work in collaboration with Dr David Rowlands (Massey University, New Zealand).
