Applications are invited for a Research Fellow in Epigenetics position in the Faculty of Medicine, Human Development and Health Academic Unit.
There is now substantial evidence that poor intra-uterine environment induces changes in the fetal epigenome which increase its future risk of disease in later life. Applications are invited for a Research Fellow to join our multidisciplinary group to investigate the changes in DNA methylation associated with obesity and other cardiometabolic risk factors, their stability over time and their potential use as predictive biomarkers to identify individuals at increased risk of obesity. This post is funded by the NHMRC.
You must have a PhD* or equivalent qualifications and experience in biological sciences with experience in sodium bisulfite pyroseqeuncing and statistical analysis. The successful applicant will be based in the recently opened state-of-the-art Institute of Developmental Sciences Building at the University Hospital Southampton. It is anticipated that the post will be taken up in October 2017 for a fixed term until 30 September 2018.

Which focuses on world leading research into human development and the mechanisms that underlie its impact on health and disease. HDH scientists, clinicians and students work in the laboratory, office, lecture theatre and clinic to understand the science, deliver excellence in teaching, and develop new treatments to make a difference.

*Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification.
