The Program Coordinator will be a key member of the GMAO Strategy Realization Office. The role will support the SRO Lead in managing the reports and maintaining program level artifacts for Strategic Initiatives. The GMA Strategic initiatives are driven within a strategic program established to enhance key capabilities identified as essential in building a better and stronger Medical Affairs at Merck.

This position supports the SRO Lead by coordinating information flow across the various initiatives, creating periodic reports and dashboards from the various initiatives, collating and maintaining program level information.

The role serves as the support for communications between Project Managers, and the SRO lead. The role also supports the GMALT by providing insights and reports into the health of the Strategic Initiatives, along with the SRO Lead.

Key responsibilities include: supporting the SRO Lead in ensuring that the overall Program health is monitored, program level artifacts such as Risk Logs and Issue Logs are kept current, and regular follow ups are made with the various project managers to get near-real-time information on projects.

The purpose of this position will be to support the program by:

- Participating in SRO status meetings with the SRO Lead and Project managers
- Owning program level artifacts within the SRO including, but not limited to:
- Dashboards and reports created at a Program level
- Program level Risk log
- Program level Issue Log
- Action Items from SRO leadership meetings
- Updating Program Plans
- Following up with Project Managers to ensure that they are maintaining control documents
- Communicating and escalating issues, challenges, and risks to executive management, team leaders, and SRO leadership as required in a timely manner

Focus areas for teams include, but are not limited to key capabilities identified for Medical Affairs, compliance, quality assurance, enabling technical systems, dashboard, and various supporting functional areas including training, information systems, finance, and human resources.

Qualifications

Education:

- Bachelor’s degree;

Required:

- 3-5 years of work experience in a coordination role
- Must have strong communication (both oral and written) skills and perseverance in getting the job done. Project management certification is a plus
- Must be self-starting, with solid follow-up ability
- Must have excellent people skills, and ability to build strong relationships with teams
- Must have the experience of having worked in a matrixed organization in a role that needed coordination
- Must have strong problem solving skills
- Must have a strong background in facilitating and managing requirements for global projects
- Strong working skills with MS-Excel, Word, Visio, and PowerPoint skills
- Demonstrable experience of working with senior executives is a plus
- Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry is desirable
- Some travel to domestic sites may be required
- Must be comfortable working across time zones
