It requires an individual who is comfortable proactively interacting with multiple internal and external groups, has the ability to influence decision-making at a franchise level, and pro-actively identifies opportunities to grow the business. Strong interpersonal skills, an ability to work independently and deal well with ambiguity are essential. A strong understanding of the HIV therapeutic area is highly desirable.
The ideal candidate for this position will be able to:
- Plan, manage and execute HIV market research in support of in-line products
- Plan, manage and execute HIV market research in preparation for the launch of new compounds
- Comfortably interact with HIV extended team members (e.g. Pricing and Access, Sales, Clinical Research, and Marketing) and actively contribute to strategic discussions in these areas
- Demonstrate consistently strong leadership skills with an ability to work independently in a rapidly changing environment with a transformational mindset, cultural awareness, and resiliency to change that enables them to effectively produce results for individual areas of responsibility
This position will be based in UG and include 10-20% Travel

- Developing and executing US and Global Market Research Plans and timelines for both the healthcare professional and consumer markets that will provide Merck with an objective understanding of key customers, competitors, products and current/future market developments
- Leading primary market research projects including: identifying critical business questions, designing appropriate research studies/methodologies, managing agency partner relationships, leveraging and synthesizing information from alternate data sources and identifying key insights that can be leveraged to give Merck a competitive advantage in the market.
- Exploring alternative/creative ways of meeting an information need, considering new techniques alongside more traditional approaches to more quickly and efficiently address business requests
- Completing complex analyses using available secondary data, syndicated reports and databases and integrating findings into primary market research efforts to tell and evolve the "story"
- Leading discussions with Marketing / Commercial Teams and other key stakeholders to ensure that research insights are considered in decision-making and planning
- Collaborating proactively with cross-functional business partners including marketing communications, market access colleagues, commercial team and the advertising agency to ensure optimal integration
