The Vaccine Account Representative (VAR) reports to the Customer Team Leader, US Customer Contact Centers – Vaccines, and represents Merck Vaccines with assigned accounts in coordination with Field Sales, Vaccine Key Customer Leader and appropriate account executives. The VAR must have superior knowledge of the Vaccine Market and of Merck Vaccines. Must demonstrate strong business judgment, account management skills, customer service tenets, exemplary sales skills, and an expert understanding of contracts, ordering, fulfillment, and returns processes

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Account Management

*
Applies knowledge of full portfolio of Merck vaccines, competitive brands, and immunization recommendations and protocols

*
Brings account team together to discuss strategies and develop coverage plan.

*
Through collaboration with the account team, develops One Merck account strategy that includes well defined win / win opportunities.

*
Identification of buyers and influencers with appropriate strategies to address their needs.

*
Serves as resident expert for vaccine-related issues and opportunities within assigned geography and accounts.

Business/Customer Planning

*
Broader Market Knowledge
Demonstrates a sophisticated knowledge of the current healthcare market, with a specific focus on vaccines. Maintains and applies knowledge to identify business opportunities across assigned customers and markets. Provides updates to team using approved materials and resources.

*
Regional Market Mapping
Expert on applying multiple sources of data to identify priority customers within a region. Spends time with peers to help them deepen their understanding of how to effectively align resources to increase business results.

*
Advanced Knowledge of Internal Capabilities
Deep knowledge of internal resources, solution capabilities and the solution development process. Works closely with Account Management lead and extended team for assigned accounts to identify, develop and implement customized solutions.

Reimbursement Specialist
Understand vaccine reimbursement in aggregate with specific knowledge of regional nuances. Shares knowledge with peers through role plays, mentoring and coaching.

*
Contracting Expert
Demonstrates contract expertise, including the enrollment process and issue resolution. Assists peers in pulling through contracts by modeling commercial interactions with customers.

This position is based at Merck's West Point Facility, Building 97 in West Point, Pennsylvania. Remote working arrangement may be considered for appropriate candidate.

Typical hours of operation of the Merck Vaccines US Customer Contact Centers are 8 am - 7 pm EST, M-F. To provide vaccine information and support to customers across time zones, job hours vary depending on territory assignments.

Qualifications

Education:

- Required: BA/BS

Required:

- Sales experience in Vaccines and/or Pharmaceuticals

- Demonstrated Account Management experience/skills

- Superior communication skills (written and oral)

- Self-motivated, superior organization, interpersonal and leadership qualities

- Excellent planning skills and good judgment

- Attention to detail and compliance to Merck policies is critical

- 10% Travel

Preferred:

- US3C Vaccines experience

- US Customer Contact Center or Inside Sales experience

- Experience with Contracts, Ordering and Inventory Management

- Sales experience in large Health Systems

- Analytical/Business acumen

- Strong peer leadership competency
