The Centre for Online Health

The Centre for Online Health (COH) is a research, teaching and service provider whose overall goal is to research and develop best practice models in online health care that are applicable to Australia and other countries.  Since the COH was established in 1999, the Centre has become the focus for a multi-disciplinary group of academics with an established reputation for research and teaching excellence in the field of online health and e-Healthcare.  Research within the COH aims to produce high-quality evidence on the feasibility, efficacy, effectiveness and economics of telehealth. The Centre also has an interest in improving the methodological rigour that is used in the assessment of telehealth services. The COH telemedicine centre is at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, in Woolloongabba. The Centre’s Telepaediatric service (previously located at RCH and LCCH) has coordinated more than 20,000 consultations during a 15 year period. The Princess Alexandra Hospital Telehealth Centre commenced operations in July 2012 and focuses on consultations related to (but not limited to) dermatology, geriatrics, endocrinology and cardiology. 

The COH leads the world in peer-reviewed telehealth publications and lists UQ with almost twice the number of publications of any university worldwide.  For the study of telehealth and telemedicine, the research environment provided by the COH is unrivalled within Australia.

 

The role

To undertake project management and clinical facilitation tasks telehealth-facilitated Model of Care, specifically for older Indigenous people living in rural and remote Queensland. This project is funded by the Australian government’s Department of Health.

 

The person

Applicants should posses a degree in a health or research related dischipline or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. Essential requirements include experience in: clinical facilitation, project management skills and working with Australian Indigenous communities and/or demonstrated understanding of cultural issues relevant to Australian Indigenous communities. The successful candidate will be required to have a drivers licence and willingness to travel to rural and remote sites in Queensland. Remuneration

This is a full time, fixed term (12 months) appointment at HEW Level 8. The remuneration package will be in the range $92,811.16 - $104,214.40 p.a., (pro rata) plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 9.5% (total package will be in the range $101,628.22 - $114,114.77 p.a).
