Since our inception in 1957 as Australia's first law school, we have always looked for new and better ways to teach and develop the law. It is this spirit of innovation that has resulted in the School's remarkable legacy of achievement upon which we wish to build. 

Melbourne Law School is now seeking to appoint a new Dean to succeed Professor Carolyn Evans. The successful candidate will have exceptional international standing and recognition amongst academic and professional peers and should bring an approach to leadership which will continue to nurture the collegiality and diversity amongst both professional and academic members of staff. The appointed candidate’s leadership skills will be characterised by his/her own approach to consensus building, respectfulness and academic credibility to inspire confidence across the full range of the School’s disciplinary areas, and to ensure the School's broader contribution within the university and the diverse communities it seeks to serve. S/he will be a visible leader, not only within the University community, but will seek strong links with the Melbourne law community, alumni and donors. Experience developing strategies related to internationalisation and an international outlook would be an advantage.
