Senior Faculty

The Aga Khan University (AKU) is a private, not-for-profit, international University first established in 1983, with 11 campuses and teaching sites in 8 countries.  The University is a non-denominational institution open to all, irrespective of religion, ethnicity, gender or national origin.  Since 2001, AKU has offered academic programmes in nursing, medicine and education for and in countries in East Africa.  The University invites applications for the following position: Senior Faculty

 

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Academic Head,

• The incumbent will primarily be involved in teaching, research and practice in our programmes.
• A key focus of this role is contribution to research capacity building among faculty and contribution to the development and approval of programmes to Masters level. 
• S/he will also be expected to serve in the University’s academic committees and participate in multidisciplinary activities.
• In addition, they will be responsible for quality assurance, curriculum development and;
• Be actively involved in contributing to the nursing profession nationally, regionally and internationally.

 

Requirements

 

• Applicants should possess a PhD degree in or related field.
• Masters in nursing may be considered 
• He/she should be currently registered or eligible for registration with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council.
•  Minimum of 3 years’ experience of classroom and clinical teaching experience at an institution of higher learning, demonstrate expertise in modern pedagogy and scholarship of learning,
• Proven research skills with commitment to research and publication, and ability to mentor junior faculty and build research capacity within the school
• Four publications in peer reviewed Journals.
