Job Details

A 2-year postdoctoral position is available in the Genetic Instability and Oncogenesis Laboratory, a joint research unit of the National Centre for Scientific Research and University Paris-Saclay, formed by leading scientists in the field of DNA damage response and repair. The Laboratory is located at Gustave Roussy, a leading european cancer centre south of Paris, and benefits from state-of-the-art technological platforms and the highly dynamic and multidisciplinary scientific environment of the Institute.

Research topic:
You will join a junior team, funded by the European Research Council, interested in the mechanisms of genome maintenance and the role of replication stress in driving genomic instability, cancer initiation and progression.
The model of study is Fanconi anemia, a genetic disorder characterized by bone marrow failure and cancer predisposition.
Patients with Fanconi anemia display chromosomal instability, particularly at common fragile sites, genomic regions susceptible to replication stress and prone to breakage. Alterations at common fragile site loci are commonly found in tumors and promote genomic instability from the early steps of cancer development.
Our research project aims at understanding the molecular causes and the functional consequences of common fragile site instability in Fanconi anemia, using cellular and mouse models.

Candidate and application:
We are looking for highly motivated, talented and rigorous candidates with a strong interest in the mechanisms of genetic and epigenetic instability. Candidates must be proficient in molecular and cellular biology and have significant experience in mouse experimentation and hematology. Competences in genomics and bioinformatics will be an advantage. Applications including a motivation letter, a CV with a description of research experience, technical skills and publication record, and contact details of at least two references who could provide recommendation letters, should be sent to valeria.naim@gustaveroussy.fr.
