Job Details

The School of Geographical Sciences at the University of Bristol invites applications for two Professors of Human Geography. We are seeking internationally outstanding applicants with experience in the leadership of research and teaching, and a track record of influential scholarly publications.

The School of Geographical Sciences is the only UK Geography department to be rated first in every Research Assessment Exercise and the 2014 Research Excellence Framework. The School also has a long-standing international reputation for innovation across qualitative and quantitative theory and methods in human geography.

Successful candidates will broaden the strengths of our existing research groups in the Political Economy, Historical and Cultural Geography, and Spatial Modelling. We particularly wish to build capacity in environmental politics and policy, and economic geography, both broadly defined. At least one appointee will contribute to our MSc programme in Environmental Policy and Management and to our Political Economy research group. Appointees would likely also contribute to the University of Bristol’s interdisciplinary research institutes: the Cabot Institute, which serves as the University’s focal point for research on global environmental change and uncertainty; the Elizabeth Blackwell Institute for Health Research, which collaborates on solutions to 21st century health problems; the Jean Golding Institute for data-intensive research; and the Brigstow Institute, which experiments in new ways of living and being.

The closing date for this vacancy is 11:59pm on Sunday 1st October 2017.

The University is committed to creating and sustaining a fully inclusive culture.  We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and communities.
