The Consumer Affairs Account Manager will be part of the Veterinary and Consumer Affairs (V&CA) group with a focus on Consumer Affairs for Merck Animal Health (MAH). This position will focus on leading Senior Account Management efforts with key participants in the Food and Companion Animal marketplace such as animal protein processors (packers), food and pet retailers, restaurant chains and consumer associations. The position will develop partnerships with key stakeholders to position MAH as the partner of choice by providing vital scientific communications and consumer-focused messaging, both internally and externally, for all Food Animal and Companion Animal species.
Key responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
*
Develops close partnerships with key participants in the Food and Companion Animal marketplace, such as packers, food and pet retailers, restaurant chains and consumer associations
*
Works with key stakeholders in the Food and Companion Animal marketplace by providing vital scientific communications and consumer-focused messaging
*
Communicates the value and proper use of company products to key industry opinion leaders and other interested stakeholders
*
Develops initiatives to understand consumer trends in the Food Animal and Companion Animal marketplace
*
Collaborates with sales and key account teams to position MAH as the partner of choice to be successful in the Food and Companion Animal marketplace using MAH products and technologies.
Qualifications
Education Minimum Requirement:
*
Bachelor Degree in Business related field
Required Experience and Skills:
*
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the food retail, food services or related businesses
*
Up to 75% travel may be required.
*
Must be highly self-motivated
*
Excellent written and verbal communication, including strong presentation skills
*
Good understanding of market and consumer trends
*
Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally
*
Creativity aimed at finding solutions to unmet marketplace challenges/issues
Preferred Experience and Skills:
*
D.V.M., Ph.D. or Masters in Food Science or related area preferred.
*
Previous experience in consumer affairs, food production, processing, marketing or sales
