The Associate Specialist, Account Management role will support the current business needs of the Account Management team while gaining experience with external customers and internal partners/stakeholders within Merck. Within Merck, this role will have routine interaction with field based Account Executives and Directors, Brand and Payer Marketing, Legal, and Finance through assigned accounts and Customer Manager(s). These accounts have the ability to significantly influence local sales performance. These accounts represent a significant portion of Merck sales that occur in complex health care systems that are highly regulated. This role will work cross-functionally through strong interpersonal relationships, in depth knowledge of the customer's organization, objectives, and business and environmental issues impacting the customer, and in depth knowledge of the same for Merck.
Primary responsibilities include and are not limited to the following:
- Leading Strategic Initiatives to enhance organizational understanding of the implications of the changes in the health care environment and how that affects company business with emphasis on the impact of Health Care Reform.
- Collaborating with Customer Manager(s), Account Executive or National Account Director to manage the business relationship between Merck and business critical Customer Accounts:
- Establishing profitable product access within Merck product strategy
- Optimizing Net Sales and Contract Performance across Merck's entire portfolio of products
- Ensuring proper oversight on policy, legal, financial, and environmental provider/health care issues
- Assisting with the development and analysis of customer and product-specific business modeling, ROI and Forecasts that assist in identifying optimal net sales.

Providing insight into the performance of Merck discount programs and contracts that are available in the market. This would include the analysis of market trends, potential new product entrants, competitor positioning, customer enrollments and performance, field sales deployments and priorities, modeling offers from a customer perspective and net sales growth.
Qualifications
Education Minimum Requirement:
- BA or BS Degree Required
- Candidates must be returning to school in the Fall of 2018
- Candidates must be available to work full-time for up to (12) weeks from June through August of 2018.
Required Experience and Skills:
- Minimum of (1) year of work experience or relevant internship experience in one or more of the following areas: Account Management, Marketing, Finance, or Healthcare.
- Demonstrated Leadership skills
- Strong Communication Skills
- Strong Business Acumen
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Experience working on cross-functional teams
- Strong Negotiation/Analytical skills
