CLINICAL ASSOCIATE (TEN ONE-YEAR RENEWABLE CONTRACT POSTS)

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidates will be responsible for:
- Providing support to the development and roll out of COPC (Community Oriented Primary Care);
- Participating in the on-going facilitation of data use in COPC including data analysis and feedback;
- Participating in the education of community health workers, team leaders, clinical staff, management and students about COPC and its implementation;
- Participating in research and publications;
- The holistic management of persons with or at risk for addiction disorders;
- Providing clinical services and support in community orientated primary care including Ward Based Outreach Teams, street medicine, the addiction programme and other areas as assigned by the Department of Family Medicine.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Medical Practice (BCMP) or equivalent;
- Registration as a Clinical Associate with the Health Professions Council of South Africa.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
- Ability to perform proper investigative and therapeutic procedures;
- Knowledge of new development in the field of Community Oriented Primary Healthcare;
- Supervisory knowledge/knowledge of the management of staff;
- Interpersonal conflict management skills and the ability to work under pressure;
- Computer literacy with a broad knowledge and experience of MS Office packages, internet, GroupWise and all aspects of PeopleSoft or related programmes;
- Accuracy and the ability to maintain confidentiality;
- Appropriate language and communication skills.
ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:
- Experience in COPC, research and education;
- Appropriate experience in clinical practice.
PLEASE NOTE: All shortlisted candidates may be required to participate in relevant skills assessments as part of the selection process.
The total remuneration package for this position will be R 273 312 per annum.
