Job Details

Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge?  Do you have a background in systematic reviewing?  Do you want to further your career in one of the UK’s leading research intensive Universities?

You will provide systematic reviewing support to a project funded by the National Institute of Health Research’s (NIHR), Health Service and Delivery Programme. This funded study is UK-SAFE, a study looking at follow-up care pathways in hip or knee arthroplasty (replacement joints). You will join a team of researchers led by Professor Philip Conaghan from the Leeds Institute of Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Research.

Based with colleagues within the Centre for Health Services Research (CHSR) you will be responsible for working with Information Scientists in refining the search strategy, finalising all aspects of the review protocol and updating the detail on PROSPERO. You will work with other team members, including orthopaedic specialists to sift and select literature within the inclusion criteria, extract and critically appraise the literature and apply the appropriate synthesis techniques. You will be responsible for preparing and writing the systematic review sections of the final report for submission to the NIHR and drafting the paper for publication.

Although working mainly on this specific project, you will also be required to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and may be required to contribute your expertise to complement other programmes of research within the CHSR, Institute of Health Sciences or School of Medicine. This might include contributing to the development and design of future research proposals, development of systematic review methodologies, dissemination of findings in peer-reviewed journals and scientific conferences and teaching.

You should have a relevant post-graduate qualification and experience in systematic reviewing methodologies and working knowledge of Endnote, Excel and Review Manager soft-ware.
