The School of Veterinary Science has a rich history having been founded in 1936 and has a reputation for graduating self-reliant, independent and highly capable veterinarians with plenty of initiative and drive. The School has high quality facilities at the UQ Gatton Campus, providing the teaching, research and clinical infrastructure and resources to develop its strong reputation as a leading provider of veterinary training, research and clinical care. The school also maintains a small animal hospital and large animal clinic at Dayboro, north-west of Brisbane.

The role

The role will contribute to teaching and research in Veterinary Parasitology. The successful applicant will work with teaching teams in the infectious diseases, veterinary pathology and molecular genetics areas, have a commitment to and enthusiasm for student education. The appointee will be required to develop a research program in an area related to Veterinary Parasitology, contribute to and initiate research projects within the School and in strategic collaborations with external agencies, and have the ability to supervise postgraduate students.

The person

Applicants must have a Veterinary Science degree registrable in Queensland as well as a PhD (or equivalent) in one or more areas related to Veterinary Parasitology. The successful applicant will have teaching experience in veterinary parasitology of a high standard as well as research experience including obtaining funding to support a research program, publishing in high-ranking journals and presenting at conferences.

Remuneration

This is a full-time continuing appointment at Academic Level B/C depending on qualification and experience. The base remuneration package will be in the range:

Level B - $92,142.74 - $109,419.20 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be $107,807.01 - $128,020.46 p.a.). 

Level C - $112,874.46 - $130,150.91 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $132,063.12 - 152,276.56 p.a.).
