Duties and responsibilities:

  • Present lectures in all computer literacy modules.
  • Prepare and mark assignments for practical sessions.
  • Prepare and mark tests.
  • Responsible for technical maintenance of the ECLA assessment system.
  • Maintain hardware, software and network infrastructure in the SASOL computer laboratory.
  • Perform general administrative duties.
  •  

    Inherent requirements:

  • Driver’s license.
  •  

    Junior Lecturer:

  • Applicable technical computer and network related qualifications.
  • Technical knowledge of and a minimum of two years’ experience in the electronic assessment tool (ECLA) that is used in the department.
  • Willigness to travel to TVET colleges to assist with technical support.
  • Experience in the coordination of satellite instructor centres.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to function with ease in the University’s parallel-medium and richly diverse working environment.
  • Applicable honours degree in Computer Science.
  • A good academic record.
  •  

    Lecturer:

  • Applicable master’s degree in Computer Science.
  • Proven experience in the delivery of poster or oral presentations at conferences or equivalent activities.
  • Provide evidence of manuscripts produced that have the potential to be converted or submitted for publication, ideally in an accredited journal.
  • A good academic record.

    Junior Lecturer:

  • Willingness to enroll for a master’s degree at the first available opportunity, if not yet attained by the time of appointment.
  • Lecturer:

    • Willingness to enroll for a doctoral degree at the first available opportunity, if not yet attained by the time of appointment.
    • Proven research record or relevant publication in accredited national journals.
