The School of Chemical Engineering

The School of Chemical Engineering is an international leader in the chemical engineering field and has an excellent international reputation which has been built over four decades at the University. With 35 academic staff, including 17 professors, the School provides quality programs and leadership in chemical engineering education, research and development, and expert consulting to support the process industries.

UQ Chemical Engineering was ranked in the top 16 worldwide in the 2012 QS subject rankings for chemical engineering and was the top ranking school in Australia. It was also given the highest score awarded for chemical engineering in Australia in the recent ERA study. The role

The successful candidate will be mainly focused on conducting innovative and impactful research on carbon dioxide electrochemical conversion to mitigate CO2 emissions for iron and steel industry. Major responsibilities include participate in project planning, experimental design, scheduling and completing projects, work collaboratively with colleagues within the multi-disciplinary research team, industrial partners and business unit to deliver project objectives, producing high quality scientific papers for publications, and supervising undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD student.

 

The person

Applicants should possess a recently graduated PhD student in the area of electrochemical engineering or disciplines with research and publications in the area of electro-material development for electrochemical conversion such as fuel cells or electrolysers. The candidate should also have previously been involved in research and development projects for material development or scaling up technologies related to electrochemical applications in a university or corporate environment.

The candidate should demonstrate excellent technical (hands on) skills, resourcefulness, innovativeness, leadership, good English oral and writing skills and the capability to work in a multi-disciplinary research team. The ability to start immediately is highly preferred.

Remuneration

This is a full-time fixed appointment at Academic Level A or B. Depending on the level of appointment the remuneration will be in the range of $81,545.80 to $109,419 pa, plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17%.
