Research Associate - Wheat Genome

Job Details

Experienced Postdoctoral Researcher (Maternity Cover) – to carry out research on the wheat genome with the aim of developing modified CRISPR/CAS9 technology to increase the rate of meiotic recombination with the aim of improving the breeding process.

An experienced postdoctoral researcher is required to cover maternity leave on a project designed to develop and utilise CRISPR/CAS9 technology to modify the frequency and location of cross overs in wheat meiocytes. In addition, the appointed person will also be involved in various projects designed to develop new and efficient procedures to genotype wheat. In all cases the job holder will be required to interact with a range of Bristol researchers and researchers from a number of other institutes including various commercial wheat breeders. As such the appointed person must be willing to both carry out laboratory work and present their work at various national and international meetings.
