The University of Southampton is among the top 1% of world Universities and one of the top 10 of the UK’s 24 leading research-intensive Russell Group Universities. Hence, the University is committed to the highest levels of academic excellence in both teaching and research. Our modern studios and workshops are furnished with industry-standard equipment; we work with ambitious students whose abilities are matched by their creativity and enthusiasm; and we attract academics that flourish in a dynamic learning environment where they can share their contemporary knowledge and expertise in design and media.

Winchester School of Art is recognised as an international centre for research and education in art and design. For instance, 75% of the School’s research activity was rated as internationally excellent or of world-leading quality in REF 2014, and, its Fashion and Textiles teaching provision is currently ranked 8thin the Guardian University League tables.

The School is seeking to appoint a research active Lecturer or Senior Teaching Fellow in Fashion Promotion to complement our existing team and contribute to our successful BA Fashion Marketing Management programme. We are looking for candidates with strong teaching experience and a detailed knowledge and understanding of fashion promotion (PR, fashion communication, branding digital, social media, styling). You may have consultancy or work experience in these areas, including an understanding of both online and retail environments.

The Lecturer post (balanced contract) requires research contributions, therefore you will be able to demonstrate that you are or will be ready for the next REF submission through a publication record and research trajectory that displays high quality. Please see the job description for ‘Lecturer in Fashion Promotion’ for a detailed breakdown of the requirements of this post.

The Senior Teaching Fellow position demands an excellent communicator with the capacity to teach in a multi-disciplinary environment.  You will have a detailed knowledge and understanding of marketing relevant to the fashion promotion and communications sector, and be able to support the teaching across the subject.  You will be equally at ease in a lecture theatre and seminar setting, able to meet the needs of a large and diverse student body. Please see job description for ‘Senior Teaching Fellow in Fashion Promotion’.

As well as having the relevant experience, we are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual to assist with the continuing development of this dynamic programme and contribute to the School’s profile.  Successful candidates will have excellent communication and team working skills.

The successful applicant will join a highly-motivated team with the opportunities for personal development.
