Job Details
The postholder will be primarily responsible for managing the NIHR HTA funded ‘REST’ study, which will investigate whether topical antibiotic ear drops are as effective as oral antibiotics for children suffering from acute otitis media with discharge. The study will involve the development (by Kings College London and Imperial College London) of a novel software application to improve the collection of clinical data for research. REST is one of a number of NIHR funded studies within the CAPC Infection Group (led by Professor Alastair Hay, GP and Professor of Primary Care) driven by the pressing public health need to reduce pressure on antibiotic prescribing. The successful candidate will be part of a team, supporting the management of these CAPC Infection studies.
The successful candidate will have the skills to manage both the ‘detailed’ and ‘big picture’ elements of the study. They will oversee the recruitment and follow-up of participants and ensure the trial is conducted and reported to the highest possible standards. They will be expected to work on their own initiative, seeking guidance and advice where necessary from the Senior Research Projects Manager, the Chief Investigator and the trial management group. They will have autonomy and freedom to act independently within organisational policies, and will need to take a high level of responsibility.
