Job Details

Are you an experienced and ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have a background in solid materials processing? Do you want to further your career in one of the UK’s leading research intensive Universities?

You will play an important role in the EC Horizon Intensified by Design (IbD) project. IbD will create a holistic platform for facilitating process intensification for processes in which solids are an intrinsic part. This role will involve the experimental validation of a multi-scale modelling framework via experimentation using the co-flore ATR reactor developed by AM Technology for intensified solids processes including: catalytic reactions, particle formation/size reduction processes and separation processes.

You will provide the experimental data to validate and refine the CFD and discrete element models generated in the project. In these experiments we anticipate monitoring reaction kinetics of heterogeneously catalysed reactions, particle size of continuous crystallisations and monitoring of reactions utilising solid reagents in flow.

Holding a first degree and PhD (or close to completion) in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry or a closely allied discipline, you will have a strong background in continuous flow processing including construction, risk assessment and experimentation, and academic and/or industrial experience in kilo-scale unit operations.
