Number of job offers: 1
Stipend amount/month: 8500 PLN
Position starts on: 1 December 2017
Maximum period of contract/stipend agreement: 23 months
Institution : Photonics Engineering Division, Institute of Micromechanics and Photonics, Warsaw University of Technology, Warsaw
Project leader: prof. Małgorzata Kujawińska
Project description:
The main goal of the project is to develop, test and prepare for commercialization (TRL7) a novel tool for quantitative 3D analysis of phase biological microobjects namely the tomographic phase microscope (TPM). TPM is working with projections acquired within a limited angular range, which are captured sequentially or through an innovative system of parallel projections. The system of computational imaging provides full processing path: from digital acquisition of investigated object’s projections up to 3D visualization. The TPM supports such biomedical applications as histopathology, traceable measurement of cells and tissues, advanced therapy medicinal products for the treatment of osteoarthritis, cancer and cardiac diseases. In the course of the project, an initial business plan will be created in order to prepare the TPM for commercialization.
Key responsibilities include:
- Development of numerical procedures for tomographic reconstruction with precise sampling of data in the Fourier domain.
- Development of theoretical background and numerical procedures for tomographic reconstruction that accounts for multiple orders of scattering in the investigated sample.
- Analysis of the impact of measurement noise on accuracy of the tomographic reconstruction. Development of strategies for reconstruction with improved resistance to noise.
- Close cooperation with other members of the project in efficient implementation of the developed methods.
Profile of candidates/requirements:
- Strong motivation for scientific work
- PhD degree in field of optics and physics
- Interest in application of optics in advanced measurement methods metrology
- Very good knowledge of wave optics
- Confirmed level of English
- Very good knowledge of Matlab and C++: coding of developed theoretical solutions and numerical methods
- Very good communication and team work skills
- Skills for management and self-contained work
