The University of Southampton invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals to join its Faculty Operating Service (FOS). The FOS is the professional service to the University led by the Heads of Faculty Operations. The service works with Faculty Deaneries and Senior Leadership Teams to support those areas of work which provide essential services to the Faculties core business and underpins the achievement of the strategic objectives of the University.
This post is currently based in the Faculty of Medicine, Clinical and Experimental Sciences Psychiatry academic unit, at College Keep, supporting the Professor of Psychiatry and the department of Psychiatry. The role also involves work in the NHS environment, providing administrative support in areas involving clinical trials, research and patient clinics. This role requires standard DBS clearance.
You will provide professional, operational assistance and administrative support to busy, dynamic clinical and non-clinical academics, including dairy management, travel arrangements, minute taking, organising meetings/conferences, administrative support for grant applications, managing electronic storage of research publications, web updates, audio typing and HR and financial administration. You must have previous work experience within an administrative/secretarial role and be able to use your own initiative, as well as, independently problem-solve and manage your own time effectively, with minimum supervision.
You will be a team player with a keen eye for detail and a flexible, can-do attitude with excellent IT and inter-personal skills with a commitment to providing excellent customer service. Relevant knowledge of University processes/systems and previous administrative experience working within an NHS organization is desirable.
