Job Details
We are looking for a professional and proactive Laboratory Technician to support our busy teaching laboratories in the School of Food Science and Nutrition. You will assist with the day to day planning, organisation and operation of our laboratories, including preparing materials, maintaining equipment and enhancing the student experience through giving demonstrations and providing general support and advice.
You will have a BTEC higher qualification or equivalent in Food Science, Physics, Engineering or a related area, or equivalent experience working in a scientific research or teaching environment, as well as the ability to demonstrate and teach laboratory techniques to students. You will also have a good understanding of chemical hazards, safe handling and disposal, with the ability to work safely and maintain a high standard of hygiene. In addition, you’ll also have good organisational and communication skills, and the ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team.
