• Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching of Ancient Near Eastern Languages (with specialisation in Biblical Hebrew) and Ancient Cultures;
• Postgraduate supervision;
• Researching the Ancient Near Eastern Languages and Cultures and publishing research findings;
• Active involvement in community interaction projects;
• Performing administrative tasks as necessary.

• Doctoral degree and specialisation in Biblical Hebrew;
• Demonstrated research outputs;
• Excellent teaching skills;
• Academic language proficiency in Afrikaans and English;
• Ability to work in a team;
• Ability to read Biblical Hebrew and Aramaic texts in their cultural context;
• Ability to use information technology in the teaching and study of ancient languages and cultures.

• Experience in the teaching of ancient languages and cultures;
• Knowledge of General Linguistics - Cognitive Linguistics in particular;
• Knowledge of the theory and practice of Bible translation;
• Knowledge of other ancient languages;
• Ability to work in a multilingual environment/context.
