Job Description:

Job Purpose: 
The asset management – lab support specialist is responsible for providing asset management and lab support services at a client’s facility

Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Build and maintain a working relationship with lab owners, Facilities, other cross-functional teams, and management.
  • Manage onboarding, relocation, and retirement of equipment (both CAPEX and OPEX)
  • Follow and improve documented procedures, policies, and best practices.
  • Coordinate and work with outside vendors on installations and problem solving.
  • Maintain regular communications and timely follow up with clients to ensure efficient delivery of service.
  • Chaperone workflow issues through bottlenecks that might arise in normal support channels and escalate issues that are not resolved.
  • Proactively support the lab environment by identifying inefficiencies/issues and resolve them by providing best practices.
  • Respond to environmental monitoring alarm calls (24/7).
  • Ship and receive samples across different sites.
  • Maintain a laboratory notebook (PAPER or ELECTRONIC) for all samples processed.
  • Manage inventory for Analytical Development.
  • Organize and maintain freezer space.         
  • Organize and track retains.
  • Run LIMS report of sample retains.
  • Tabulate raw data.
  • Order solutions through Development Support.
  • Co-ordinate pipette calibration.
  • Order and manage lab coats and specialty lab coats.
  • Archive paper and files at Iron Mountain.
  • Request repairs of lab Instruments (24/7 coverage).
  • Aliquot reference and standards.
  • Maintain Tissue Culture Room.
  • Maintain bioreactors and agitators.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or related field with a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant professional lab experience.
  • Strong commitment to customer service, teamwork, collaboration, adaptability, and taking initiative.
  • Lab equipment/instrument management background (lifecycle management, including procurement).
  • Possess a high level of professionalism, including excellent listening skills, superior analytical skills, and great verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of lab practices, instruments, and application softwares (desired: experience with enterprise softwares such as those used for purchasing and equipment management).
  • Detail-oriented working style, including respect for standard operating procedures and compliance.
  • Drive for achievement, especially by using excellent problem solving skills to provide quick resolutions.
  • Ability to multitask and support various group of users.
  • Ability to manage one’s time with minimal supervision to achieve objectives.

Work Conditions

  • MUST follow personal protective equipment and safety policies in both lab and office environments.
  • Provide support for other client and PerkinElmer functional teams as requested.
  • Defined work week is 40 hours, but the range of hours may vary based on client’s needs.
  • Travel requirement: 10-20% (local travel within large site of 2square-mile radius).

  • Provides on-call response support for client site outside of regular business hours.

  • Will participate in an on-call response rotation with requirement to respond to client issues outside of normal work hours.
