Rewarding School Leadership Roles in the Faculty of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences

Job Details

The University of Adelaide is one of Australia’s leading universities consistently ranked in the top 1% globally. Established in 1874, it is Australia’s third oldest university. With an outstanding history and a reputation as a progressive institution, the University of Adelaide educates modern leaders and undertakes excellent research that impacts academia and beyond.

The Faculty of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences (ECMS) educates the STEM professionals of the future and delivers excellent stakeholder-connected research. Along with the other four Faculties at the University, it has a central role in helping shape an exciting new future, rich in innovation, for the benefit of South Australia and for the nation.

An innovative STEM powerhouse, ECMS undertakes research that is globally renowned for its excellence and impact. The Faculty uniquely received two ARC Laureate Fellowships in the last round, and includes members of a team that won the 2017 Amazon Robotics Challenge ahead of other competitors including Google and Microsoft. It is also the educational home for 5000 undergraduate and higher-degree students, and a growing number of students who engage through modern platforms including EdX.

The University is investing in ECMS to strengthen its leadership and to harness exciting STEM developments in South Australia and around the world. The recent appointment of a new Executive Dean of ECMS, multi-billion dollar investments in defence, and construction of the world’s largest lithium-ion battery all herald an advanced and innovative future building on the past, but not defined by it.

The University will make four key appointments to help lead the future development of ECMS:

  • Head of School, Chemical Engineering

  • Head of School, Civil, Environmental and Mining Engineering

  • Head of School, Computer Science

  • Head of School, Mechanical Engineering

  •

At a time when others are combining Schools trying to remove complexity, we are strengthening and deepening the fundamental disciplines to harness complexity through enhanced leadership and collaboration, connected together with effective communication.

These are critical leadership roles for the University. We are committed to providing a motivating and high-achieving environment that will enable our students to develop as the professional and community leaders of the future.

If you are a discipline expert, able to lead and strengthen your discipline, work across application areas with other leaders, and are passionate about having a real impact, Adelaide is the place for you.

The University of Adelaide is supported by Perrett Laver for these recruitment processes.
