Researcher position at the Machine to Machine (M2M) Communications Department

Job Details

The Communication Technologies Division of the CTTC is searching for interested candidates in a Researcher position in its Machine to Machine (M2M) Communications Department. For more information about the Department please refer to http://technologies.cttc.es/m2m/.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The candidate must hold a master (MSc.) degree in telecommunications, electrical engineering or related disciplines, and should have proven work experience in the area of wireless technologies and communication networks. Holding a PhD degree or being in the final stage of the thesis will be highly valued. The candidate is expected to have a solid background in the analysis and design of cellular mobile communication systems (LTE/LTE-A) and emerging 5G technologies and beyond. In particular, candidates are asked to have proven experience in the design of radio resource management (RRM) and Medium Access Control (MAC) techniques for wireless communications and, in particular, with focus on Machine to Machine (M2M) communications. Experience in the application of M2M communications to a particular vertical industry (smart grid, automotive, eHealth, etc.) will be highly valued. In addition, the applicant must be familiar with both mathematical tools and the open-source network simulator ns-3. It will be highly valuable to demonstrate industrial experience in the form of previous collaborations or internships. Candidates with proven collaboration with international research groups will be also appreciated, including mobility experience and stays with various research groups. A strong publication record in high-impact journals and international conferences is a must.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The applicant is expected to carry out innovative applied and experimental research, publication of results in high impact scientific journals related to the field, patent filing, R&D project reporting, and competitive R&D project proposal preparation for different national and international calls. All these activities must be always aligned with the strategic lines defined at the department level. In addition, the expected activities include the seek for collaboration with local and international industry, aiming at strengthening the IPR portfolio of CTTC and maximizing the technology transfer of knowledge towards society. Outstanding communication and writing skills in English are necessary. The candidate must show strong willingness to be integrated in a multidisciplinary and multicultural research team, and above all, enjoy the everyday activities to be carried out.

The position is permanent and full time. The rank and gross salary will be determined according to qualifications, work experience and budget availability.
