Postdoctoral Researcher (with at least 2 years of postdoctoral experience) for 5G and/or IoT Networ

Candidates are sought to apply for a Catalan postdoctoral grant, which requires at least 2 years of postdoctoral experience. The selected candidate will be presenting a project proposal on 5G and/or IoT networks, with Dr. Ilker Demirkol as the Responsable Investigator of the position.

The call for the postdoctoral grant is expected to be opened at the mid of Oct. and remain open until the end of Nov. For the details of the last year's call: BP 2016

The position will be in Dept.  of Network Engineering, Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya - BarcelonaTech (UPC). UPC is a leading research university in Spain with more than 5000 students studying on Information and Communication Technology related fields. It is among the top three Spanish universities in terms of participation in EU-funded research projects.

If the application is granted, the candidate will have the opportunity to join international research projects and co-supervise graduate students on their MS and PhD theses. The candidate must have a PhD degree in the area of Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

The required qualifications are:

• Very good understanding of LTE and/or IoT networking protocols
• Strong written/oral communication skills
• Proven scientific track record
• Knowledge in one or more of the following areas is desirable:
• Cellular network planning and optimization
• Network softwarization (Open-source implementations of network functions, SDN, NFV, etc.)
• Mathematical optimization of computer networks

 

The position is for 2 years, and with 43K€/year gross salary, which is a very competitive salary in Spain.

6K€ budget is also provided to the candidate for the execution of the project, which can be used for material, traveling to conferences, etc.
