The Centre for Health Services Research

The UQ Centre for Health Services Research is one of five Research Centres in the Faculty of Medicine. The primary purpose of the Centre is to improve the delivery of health care through research which examines health systems performance and identifies mechanisms to improve access, effectiveness and efficiency.  The Centre has research strengths in telehealth, geriatric medicine and aged care, renal medicine, clinical trial design and administration and biostatistics.  The Centre engages 20 clinicians and research staff, 27 professional staff and has a large cohort of higher degree research students. The Centre works closely with the other Research Centres in the Faculty of Medicine (UQDI, UQCCR, UQCHRC), the Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences and also with Metro South Hospital and Health Services. The Centre is the Australian Coordinating Centre for interRAI and leads international development of its hospital assessment systems related to function and psychosocial problems.  It has extensive related data holdings.

The Australasian Cerebral Palsy Clinical Trials Network (AusCP-CTN) is administered within the Centre for Child Health Research at the Lady Cilento Childrens’ Hospital.  The AusCP-CTN CRE has a work plan to uplift earlier detection of cerebral palsy, fast track children to multi-site randomised clinical trials of new neuroprotectants and to develop and test new rehabilitation.

 

The role

The successful applicant will work with senior researchers at CHSR and the AusCP-CTN CRE to support high level statistical aspects of research.  The applicant will engage in research design and analysis, and contribute to data management. The applicant will be encouraged to develop his/her own research program, which should be complementary to overall research program of the Centres. As the bio-statistics program expands, the applicant will have a role in supervision of junior statisticians.

 

The person 

The person should hold a PhD in the area of Biostatistics or equivalent, and have demonstrated expert knowledge in the area of medical biostatistics in relation to clinical and health services research including analysis of Clinical Trials and longitudinal datasets.

 

 

Remuneration

This is a full-time, 12 month fixed term appointment at Academic Level B or C. The remuneration package will be in the below ranges, plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 9.5% (included in the total package figures below).

 Level B will be in the range $92,142.74 - $109,419.20 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 9.5% (total package will be $100,896 to $118,814)

 Level C will be in the range $112,874.46 - $130,150.91 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 9.5%  (total package will be in the range $123,597 to $142,515)
