UQ’s Faculty of Science is one of the largest Science groupings in Australia, with approximately 1100 (equivalent full-time) staff, and about 7500 (equivalent full-time) students. The role

The primary purpose of these positions is to conduct and lead the academic efforts associated with the continued development, delivery, monitoring and improvement of this compulsory core course, with a particular regard to facilitating involvement from experts across a diverse range of science discipline areas. This will include in-class teaching, course coordination, responding to student feedback, updating teaching resources, supervising tutors, setting and grading assessment, working with academic staff from across the faculty, and acting as an advocate for the courses in a range of contexts. The appointees will also perform administrative and other activities associated with the School and Faculty, and will be expected to engage in research and/or other appropriate activities in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.

 

The person

Applicants will possess a PhD in mathematics, statistics, computer science, science or a closely related area. In addition, successful appointees will have high-quality teaching experience in mathematics, statistics or science with a significant quantitative component, with the ability to develop, lecture and coordinate large-enrolment, interdisciplinary courses with a significant quantitative component in a collaborative teaching environment.

Remuneration

There are two full-time, fixed term appointment for 3 years at Academic Levels B or C. The remuneration package will be in the range:

Academic Level B - $92,142 - $109,419 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $107,807 - $128,020 p.a.).

Academic Level C - $112,874 - $130,150 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $132,063 – $152,276 p.a.).
