Senior Assistant Officer (Post level 12)

 

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Capture data and student marks.
  • Compile selection lists and assist with registration administration.
  • Compile department reports (accreditation, research and related reports)
  • Co-ordinate department events (e.g. prize giving)
  • Arrange assessment moderation.
  • Co-ordinate study material, study guide and assessment papers.
  • Manage the department e-platform (black board) and website.
  • Compile and verify class, exam and workshops timetables and venues for the Department.
  • Provide undergraduate and postgraduate support/administration to students.
  • Co-ordinate department marketing initiatives.
  • Provide academic support to lecturers.
  • Capture department research outputs.
  • Co-ordinate contact/block sessions for “distance” learning programmes.
  • Maintain and update student records, statistics and subject files.
  • Undertake general administration.
  • Provide day to day administration support for “distance” learning services in the Department.
  • Request quotations and purchase orders.
  •  

    Inherent requirements:

    • Grade 12.
    • One (1) to two (2) years’ relevant experience.

     

    Required competencies:

    • Able to work under pressure.
    • Planning and organising.
    • Process and results oriented.
    • Accuracy.
    • Work independently or with minimal supervision, and in a group.
    • Basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft programmes (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Writing skills.
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) and, the ability to function well in the university’s parallel medium and richly diverse working environment.

     

    Recommendations:

    • Relevant diploma or bachelor’s degree.
    • Knowledge of Intranet, PeopleSoft and marketing.
