HEAD: INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION (THREE-YEAR CONTRACT APPOINTMENT)

PEROMNES POST LEVEL 5

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent will be required to strengthen the University’s research and international profile. The job follows a three-pronged approach. The first one targets international programmes that seek to strengthen the research profile of the University. The second approach aims at providing pre- and in-care support for international students, staff, postdoctoral fellows, as well as visitors. The third approach consolidates various University-wide engagements into formal bilateral, multilateral, and faculty agreements, as appropriate. This will include:

  • Co-ordinating and facilitating international collaborative partnerships and agreements;

  • Managing international programmes;

  • Providing pre- and in-care support for international students and staff;

  • Managing international mobility programmes (student, staff and fellows);

  • Managing the International Cooperation Division staff;

  • Sourcing external funding for international programmes.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • A master’s degree in a relevant field;

  • At least five years’ experience in managing international programmes and resource mobilisation;

  • At least ten years’ experience in stakeholder management, and staff supervision and development.

 

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

  • Knowledge of international relations and rules applicable to implementation of international programmes;

  • Computer skills in MS Office (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint);

  • Appropriate language and communication skills for international liaison.

 

ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:

  • A PhD in a relevant field;

  • At least five years’ experience in financial management and report writing.

The all-inclusive remuneration package for this contract position will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines.
