Job Details
The Department of Epidemiology and Public Health (EPH), within Swiss TPH, develops and applies epidemiological, statistical and mathematical methods to advance innovation, validation and application in the field of public health. Within our Health Systems and Policy Research group we are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate
The Research Associate will contribute to different projects that require data management and analytical skills. The incumbent will support the research activities of a project investigating how to extend social health protection to vulnerable population groups in low income countries improving health system governance. The project will use households' surveys data, large administrative datasets of health insurance schemes, and health management information systems. The Research Associate will also work on other projects in the unit.
Experience and skill requirements:
To best fit the requirements of the position, we expect the following qualifications:
- Master's degree either in Public Health, Economics, Computer Science or Statistics (or a related field)
- Experience in data management and analysis of large datasets
- Good programming skills in R and/or STATA; experience in Python would be great.
- Good communication skills, strong spirit of team work and initiative, and ability to work with professionals in multi-cultural context
- Excellent command of English (spoken and written)
- Willingness to conduct research activities and spend some time in a low income country.
Start of employment: November 2017 or upon negotiation
