Academic Cytopathologist

The Department of Pathology, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Chicago, invites applications for a non-tenured full-time faculty position at the level of Assistant, Associate, or full Professor to start on or before July 1, 2018.  Applicants must hold MD or MD/PhD degrees and be board certified in AP or AP/CP and board certified/eligible in Cytopathology from the American Board of Pathology, as well as be eligible for an unrestricted medical license in the State of Illinois.  Fellowship training in oncologic surgical pathology or a subspecialty area of surgical pathology is desirable.  Rank and remuneration will be determined by qualification and experience.

The successful candidate will display excellence in diagnosis and teaching in Cytopathology, general surgical pathology and/or subspecialty area of surgical pathology, as well as have a record of demonstrated productivity and scholarship in these areas.  The Cytopathology Division, directed by Dr. Ritu Nayar, has an annual volume of 40,000, that includes a very active fine needle aspiration/core biopsy service. The Surgical Pathology Division, directed by Dr. Guang-Yu Yang, offers subspecialty sign-out and both areas work closely with other Divisions of the Department including Hematopathology and Diagnostic Molecular Pathology.  In addition to clinical responsibilities and research, faculty are expected to play an active role in teaching and training medical students, residents, and fellows.

The environment for hypothesis driven basic research, and for translational and collaborative research at Northwestern University and the Northwestern Memorial Hospital is outstanding.  Interested applicants should submit a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, and names of three to five references by e-mail to Dr. Daniel Brat, Chair of the Department of Pathology, via Ms. Jennifer Godinez at jennifer.godinez@northwestern.edu, by December 31, 2017.
