Merck Research Lab is currently
recruiting for a summer intern within the Center for Observational and
Real-world Evidence (CORE). The position requires technical and analytical
skills, including decision-analytic modeling, programming in Excel, R and an
understanding of applied decision-analysis.

The intern will utilize developed health economic models to generate
insights on the potential value of healthcare interventions and technologies in
oncology.

Projects may be product-specific or focused on issues spanning multiple
products.

At the conclusion of the term,
the Intern will share results and recommended actions as a final project
presentation.

This is a paid intern opportunity
targeted to start in May/June 2018 until August 2018.

Applicants should have an
interest in supporting human health and drug discovery, and have the ability to
generate and interpret results using various methodologies. If you are the kind

Qualifications

Education:

- Required:
Candidates must be currently pursuing a Masters or PhD degree in
Statistics, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, business,
economics, informatics, policy, or related quantitative field
- Candidates
must be returning to school in the Fall of 2018
- Candidates
must have completed at least two semesters of graduate courses by May 31,
2018.

Required
Experience:

- Candidates
must be available to work full-time for 9-12 weeks beginning in May or June
of 2018
- Candidates
must have minimum of (1) year of healthcare domain knowledge
in life sciences, health data, health IT and/or the payer marketplace.
- Candidates
must have strong communication skills.
- Candidates
must have experience or exposure to health economic analyses
- Candidates
must have an understanding of applied decision-analysis with familiarity
in its application to healthcare.
- Candidates
must be persistent and driven: Demonstrated characteristics of a forward
thinker and self-motivator that thrives on new challenges and adapts to
learning new knowledge
- Candidates
must have experience in the development of model-based insights from
healthcare data in a health-related industry, academic, or research
setting.

Preferred
Experience:

- Knowledge of applied decision-analysis in healthcare
- Demonstrated
expertise in programming in Excel and/or R
- Experience
working with multi-functional teams
- Understanding
of business processes in one or more of discovery, research, clinical,
commercial, regulatory or safety domains
- An
understanding of health technology assessment is a plus
