 The School of Veterinary Science

The School of Veterinary Science has a rich history having been founded in 1936 and has a reputation for graduating self-reliant, independent and highly capable veterinarians with plenty of initiative and drive. The School has high quality facilities at the UQ Gatton Campus, providing the teaching, research and clinical infrastructure and resources to develop its strong reputation as a leading provider of veterinary training, research and clinical care. The school also maintains a small animal hospital and large animal clinic at Dayboro, north-west of Brisbane.

 

The Role

This position will undertake teaching and research in production animal medicine and surgery. The successful applicant will contribute to the production animal teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate students and will take leadership in ongoing development of the curriculum in the field. You will develop a research program in an area related to production animal medicine, contribute to and initiate research projects within the School and in strategic collaborations with external agencies. The successful applicant will also contribute to the School’s UQ VETS Gatton Production Animal Service clinical team, which provides ambulatory service to the farm units at the campus and external herd health clients, including participating in the after hours on-call roster.

 

The Person

Applicants must have a Veterinary degree registrable in Queensland, and a PhD or equivalent advanced clinical training. The successful applicant must have the ability to teach students production animal medicine to a high standard and previous clinical experience in delivery of rural practice veterinary services. You should also have research experience including obtaining funding to support a research program, publishing in high-ranking journals and presenting at conferences.

 

Remuneration

This is a full-time continuing appointment at Academic Level C. The base remuneration package will be in the range 112,874.46 - $130,150.91 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $132,063.12 - 152,276.56 p.a
