The Department of Human Genetics and the Institute for Precision Health at the David Geffen School of Medicine seeks a Medical Geneticist to build and direct a new division of Clinical Genetics and Genomics. The development of this division represents a major new direction in the school of medicine and health system and requires substantial leadership qualities and vision. The director will be responsible for developing and integrating clinical genomic medicine and precision health efforts across a wide variety of medical disciplines, from pediatrics to adults. The position is a full-time tenured position at the associate or full professor rank, commensurate with experience. M.D. or equivalent degree is required. Applicants must be licensed or license-eligible to practice medicine in California, at the time of appointment.
Candidates must have an outstanding record of leadership skills as well as an established, independent clinical and/or laboratory research program and participate in the teaching and clinical activities of the division. Rich opportunities are available for cooperative research with UCLA physician-scientists and both basic and clinical scientists in many disciplines. Responsibilities will include working to expand and further strengthen genomic medicine in the clinical and inpatient clinics across multiple hospitals and telemedicine activities. The candidate will also support educational and research activities that relate to the division, such as the Undiagnosed Disease Network, Intercampus Medical Genetics Training Program, and the Genetic Counseling Training Program.
