The School of Biological Sciences
The School of Biological Sciences is part of the Faculty of Science and includes the disciplines of Botany, Zoology and Entomology. The School provides unique opportunities for study or research in plant and animal biology with research programs spanning ecology, molecular plant sciences and biotechnology, plant and animal physiology, insects and parasite interactions, and genetics and evolution.
The role
The successful appointee will work with lead research on myrtle rust and work with a team of researchers to conduct vegetation survey, focusing on rare plant species. Fieldwork involves trips from between 7-20 days. The candidate will have a record of scientific publications related to the ecology and management of natural systems. The demonstrated capacity to program in R is essential.
The person
Applicants will possess a PhD in a relevant discipline. They should have a demonstrated knowledge of ecology, botany, data modelling, and the demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire knowledge in the identification of Australian rainforest Myrtaceae. Strong organisational skills, with attention to detail, are also required. Applicants should be proficient in managing large data sets and performing complex analysis. A current clean Australian driver’s license is also essential.

Remuneration
This is a full time, fixed term appointment for 1 year at Academic Research Level A. The remuneration package will be in the range $81,545.80 - $87,535.13 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $95,408.59 - $102,416.10).
