IT LABORATORY ASSISTANT (RENEWABLE CONTRACT APPOINTMENT, SUBJECT TO THE AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS)

PEROMNES POST LEVEL 12

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent will be required to provide support and assistance to users and the LAN Administrator in order to provide an efficient and effective student and lecturer service at UP.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12 with IT/computer related subjects;
• Two to three years’ experience in a computer laboratory environment;
• Recognised certificates in networks, hardware or software.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

• Knowledge of the following:
  • Computers, specifically related to hardware maintenance;
  • Software installation and maintenance;
  • Windows desktop operating systems;
  • Networks; 
• Ability to perform IT and audio-visual media related tasks
• The ability to function both as a team member and as an individual;
• Accuracy and a sense of responsibility.

ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:

• Practical experience in computer hardware and software;
• Experience in a computer laboratory environment at a tertiary institution.

The all-inclusive remuneration package for this contract position will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines.
