The Open Flight Deck project will address the needs of the future aviation environment by developing an open (non-proprietary, accessible, standardised) avionic platform for the flight deck which supports the introduction of new technologies, software applications and peripheral devices. Within the open flight deck framework the project will also develop and integrate: new crew aids to optimise flight crew work load, improve situational awareness to address extended safe aircraft operations and integrate new and existing applications to add functionality, simplify the flight deck, reduce error potential and harness big data.
Throughout the project, consideration of Human Factors aspects of new technology solutions will inform decisions and design.
You will have a PhD or equivalent professional qualifications and experience in human factors or related discipline; psychology, ergonomics or HMI. You will also have experience of statistical data analysis.
The post is fixed-term for 28 months due to funding restrictions.
