The University of Southampton is home to the Wessex Institute which oversees a number of research funding programmes, including those that are managed on behalf of the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and the National Institute for Social Care and Health Research (NISCHR).

A vacancy has arisen for a Finance Manager within the Finance Team based at Chilworth. You will join an enthusiastic and cohesive team working flexibly to add maximum value to the management of health and social care research across the globe. 

As Finance Manager, you will be confident working independently and will adapt and refine working practices when necessary. You must have a strong financial background, particularly within the areas of forecasting and budgeting. With proven organisational skills, you will be able to multi-task and will be confident using the MS Office suite, particularly Excel. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to constantly re-evaluate and re-prioritise your workload to reflect the ever-changing needs of a busy team environment.

Experience in the financial aspects of funding health research overseas, specifically in low middle income countries would be of benefit to this role.

You should have strong financial experience backed by working towards a CCAB qualification and have an interest in supporting the development of health research globally. You will need to be able to work well as part of a team, which is committed to adding maximum value to the management of health research.
