School of Chemical Engineering

The School of Chemical Engineering is an international leader in the chemical engineering field and has an excellent reputation, built over many decades at The University of Queensland.

The role

The successful candidate will be a chemist or chemical engineer, ideally with knowledge of (bio)diesel production, and preferably with experience in characterisation of pyrolysis products and catalysts. Excellent communication and writing skills are necessary for the deliverables of this project. The successful candidate will be expected to show leadership and time management skills, to ensure the success of the program. You will support Associate Professor Steven Pratt and Dr Bronwyn Laycock, lead investigators of CRC-P funded research on a novel catalytic process for sustainable diesel production from waste.

 

The person

Applicants should possess a PhD in chemistry, chemical engineering, or closely related discipline. You should have demonstrated expert knowledge in catalysis and / or polymerisation and depolymerisation, particularly for hydrocarbons. Ability to design and conduct experiments and then characterise kinetics and mechanisms of material transformations under catalytic depolymerisation is essential. Experience with petroleum refining is desirable/will be highly regarded.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 3 years at Academic level B. The remuneration package will be in the range $92,142 - $109,419 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $107,807 - $128,020 p.a.).
