The School of Chemical Engineering is an international leader in the chemical engineering field and has an excellent reputation, built over many decades at The University of Queensland.

The role

The successful candidate will be a materials engineer, ideally with knowledge of wood and plastics (the key feedstocks for the CRC-P project), and experience with delivering research projects for industry partners.  Excellent communication and writing skills are necessary for the deliverables of this project. The successful candidate will be expected to show leadership and time management skills, to ensure the success of the program. The new Research Fellow within the School of Chemical Engineering will support Dr Bronwyn Laycock and Associate Professor Steven Pratt, lead investigators of CRC-P funded research on a novel catalytic process for sustainable diesel production from waste.  The Fellow will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of a ‘circular economy’ program within the Faculty.

 

The person

Applicants should possess a PhD in materials engineering. You should have demonstrated experience in managing industry-focused research. Ability to (i) coorndate research programs, and (ii) establish effective relationships and to represent and promote academic discipline at a university and wider community level, including industry, government and professional bodies, is essential. Knoweldge of pretreatment of wood and plastics for downstream processing is desirable/will be highly regarded.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 3 years at Academic level B. The remuneration package will be in the range $92,142 - $109,419 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $107,807 - $128,020 p.a.).
