LECTURER / SENIOR LECTURER (ONE POST)

The Department of Anatomy is a large multidisciplinary department carrying out teaching and research in aspects of Clinical Anatomy, Cell Biology and Anthropology.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent will be required to:

  • Teach Human Anatomy and Embryology at tertiary level;
  • Be intimately involved in research in a related field.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Lecturer:

  • A medical or dental degree or alternatively a related scientific degree on MSc level;
  • Teaching experience of at least two years in Human Anatomy and Embryology;
  • Research experience in Human Anatomical Sciences;
  • Registration with HPCSA (if qualified as a Dentist or Medical Practitioner).

 

Senior Lecturer:

  • A medical or dental degree or alternatively a related scientific degree on PhD level;
  • Teaching experience of at least  five years in Human Anatomy and Embryology;
  • Research experience, including supervising postgraduate students in Human Anatomical Sciences;
  • Registration with HPCSA (if qualified as a Dentist or Medical Practitioner).

 

ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:

  • A strong and proven record of research and postgraduate student supervision in Human Anatomical Sciences;
  • Member of ASSA (Anatomical Society of Southern Africa) or an equivalent professional society;
  • Experience in teaching of undergraduate students in the allied health sciences (eg. Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Dietetics, Radiography, Oral Hygiene and BCMP).

 

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED medical aid scheme and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
