The Executive Dean reports through the Provost to the Vice-Chancellor and is responsible for the leadership and management of one of UQ’s most important and successful faculties.  The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) is a large, comprehensive faculty with more than 300 academic staff, a broad academic profile and substantial research achievements.  These are reflected in the 2017 Leiden rankings, where HASS at UQ ranks 16^th in the world.  It includes seven schools, a number of research institutes and centres, and two museums.  The Faculty has around 7,500 undergraduates and approximately 2,000 postgraduate students. 

This is an exceptional opportunity to lead a highly regarded faculty and continue to build on recent successes.  It requires a leader with a focus on research excellence who will also support innovation in teaching and learning and developing a first class student experience.  Also key will be a strong external orientation and the capacity to maintain and build upon the Faculty’s strong reputation through engagement with a large and diverse group of external stakeholders.
